What is Rope Flow?

Rope Flow is a new fitness trend that is fast gaining traction in the fitness industry. It is part rhythmic movement, part dancing, and is a great low-impact mobility exercise that promotes muscle tone, flexibility, rhythm, timing, and coordination.  No jumping allowed!

It is based on Functional Movements which are defined by Wikipedia as "Movements based on real-world situational biomechanics. They usually involve multi-planar, multi-joint movements which place demand on the body's core musculature and innervation."  Innervation is a fancy word for "nerve stimulation".

No manufacturer produces a rope specifically designed for doing rope flow exercises.  Finding a rope which works well for this purpose is a big challenge.  The rope must have two critical properties;

  1. Extreme flexibility
  2. Extreme abrasion resistance

These two properties are usually mutually exclusive.  Over a period of about 1 ½ years I bought in thousands of dollars of rope samples to test (my wife is ready to kill me).  Some had great abrasion resistance but were very stiff.  Some had great flexibility but provided little abrasion resistance.  The one I have chosen for the pro grade RF1 product has the perfect balance of flexibility and abrasion resistance.

I recently launched a line of budget RF1-JR Starter Ropes for people who want to try their hand (and feet) at rope flow without breaking the bank.  The RF1-JR ropes are 1/2 in (12.7 mm) just like the premium RF1-PRO ropes but are a bit lighter.  The price of the RF1-JR rope is much less than the price of the RF1-PRO rope and, like all Ropeflow products, includes free shipping anywhere in Canada and the US.  To keep the cost of the RF1-JR rope low, personalization is not available.

All RopeFlow Canada Inc. ropes are guaranteed for life.
